Codemasters’ Guilford studio just announced their new shooter IP, Bodycount.
Set to rip apart the genre Codemasters are to deliver a genre-defining gun play that you wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else! It’s being designed by the Creative Director who brought us ‘Black’ so we expect big explosions and destruction.
We’re all massive FPS fans,” said Stuart Black, Creative Director on Bodycount “and believe that there’s room for a refresh of the shooter experience. If Race Driver: GRID™ was all about the purity of racing, then everything in Bodycount is absolutely centred on the bullet and its impact on the world. Our shredding tech enables us to create a different kind of gameplay, where players and AI can’t hide behind indestructible cover and rely on whack-a-mole mechanics. Here the environment is constantly changing as the game world is shot to hell; it’s going to be a huge amount of fun.”
The game will be the front cover of this month’s OXM – on-sale March 16th.
Game informer has got themselves the exclusive info on the upcoming Portal 2. The magazine features a good few page spreads which will be in the next issue. – We can’t go about showing them to you because, well that’s highly illegal.
Although featured in the article they do explain that Portal was seen as a “Trial” and that if all went well that they would have to make a game out of it all!

On Gamestop’s website they just let slip that they have got Portal 2 in their upcoming release database.

Being a MASSIVE fan of the original just makes me want to play the second game even more. Shame I’m not from a Gangster Italian background.
Crystal Dynamics have just announced Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, a new game which will be released via digital download in 2010.
“This is a really exciting project for Crystal Dynamics, we have created something completely new and very different to what people might be expecting,” said Darrell Gallagher, General Manager of Crystal Dynamics. “Lara Croft is such an iconic character in videogames, with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light we have created what we believe is a truly original digital experience.”

Firstly, for those who are off to buy Peppa Pig this morning for their loved ones your going to have wait an extra hour as GAME and Gamestations will be having a early morning meeting!
A statement has been given out by the company saying that they will be shaking up their staff’s working hours, hopefully not physically because I’m sure that’s pretty illegal. The good old statement follows!
“We continually review the sales patterns across our entire store portfolio to make sure that we have the right number of people in place to serve customers throughout the day,” said the company in a statement.
“Today we have held meetings with the teams in our stores to discuss ways that each store can better serve the customers in their local area, including a review of staff rotas and shift patterns. We are very focused on supporting our teams, and thank them for their continued hard work and understanding.”
We just hope that no-one looses their job unfairly or working hours somehow disappear down the toilet.
Over today’s major upset regarding 2 senior members of Infinity Ward getting the boot it seems that we have had some light shone on the upcoming Call of Duty title which is currently planned for 2011. Oh and It’s an Action Adventure Game, say what???
The title will be developed by the newly formed studio ‘Sledgehammer Games’. A team of developers which is being fronted by EA’s Glen Schofield (Executive producer on Dead Space) and Michael Condrey who also worked on the same time as a development director.
The Call of Duty franchise business will then be lead by Activision’s current Asia Pacific boss Philip Earl who went on to say that (when questioned regarding the title):
“It also seems that the game won’t be an FPS. Instead, it will extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre".
All this talk of a new studio is really making us feel a little on edge and worried about the future of the Call of Duty name, hope it all goes well!

Those lovely people over at 2k Games* just announced that they will be releasing a bunch of new DLC packages through the upcoming months, starting off with the ‘Sinclair Solutions Test Pack’, what a name! This includes:
- • Rank Increase to level 50 with Rank Rewards
• New playable characters Louie McGraff and Oscar Calraca
• 20 new trials*
• A third weapon upgrade for each weapon
• Five additional masks*
*Some items are only available after a player achieves a rank of 41 or higher.
The pack will be available for 400MSP or £3.19 on the PSN – Expect the DLC to become available this March!
