ARCProjector

The new Cerberus Arc Projector

EA and BioWare have gifted fans of Mass Effect 2 with some new DLC, The Arc Projector heavy weapon. Here is a brief outline of the weapon’s capabilities:

The Arc Projector ionizes targets with a non-visible laser to ready them for a high-voltage electrical attack. As the lightning-like bolt hits its first target, a sophisticated auto-targeting system paints succeeding targets with the ionization laser, allowing the electricity to take the path of least resistance and arc between them. An entire enemy strike team can be shocked to death with a few pulls of the trigger. Careful aiming will also allow the user to arc shots to nearby explosives as well.

A welcome addition to your arsenal I’m sure you’ll agree. This is the first of the heavier guns to utilise an electric attack, with a quick reload time and massive damage dealing capabilities. It’s strengths lie in destroying kinetic barriers and eliminating synthetic barriers. I for one will soon be jetting around the Milky Way shocking the living daylights out of any mercenaries I may have missed the first time round. To give you even more of an indication of how it works here are a few screenshots of this bad boy in action.

mapathy

Is the above picture a representation of you? Is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 causing you to become frustrated, angry and possibly Mapathetic? Here is a full description of what you may be experiencing, courtesy of Infinity Ward:

“Mapathy (n.) [map-uh-thee] (often expressed as, “How the hell did you know I was there?!”) is a state of indifference to the same old maps one has been playing for the last several months. The Mapathetic individual no longer derives pleasure from blowing up people hiding in the cockpit or on top of the crane. More than 20 million people may be at risk for Mapathy.”

Well fear not my fellow FPS addicts and fellow Mapathy sufferers, a cure is at hand. On March 30th 2010 a map pack is coming for COD Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox 360 shortly afterwards  for PS3 and PC.

Details are sketchy at the moment but check back soon for more info as it arrives. More people around the globe are currently suffering from Mapathy than swine flu, and tamiflu can’t help you… only more maps can.

Activision have released a new single-player level for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed which is available for download now for PlayStation 3 owners through the PlayStation Network. The level features The “Secret Apprentice” in an entirely new mission on Hoth that continues the story of The Force Unleashed in a new “Infinities” storyline that takes the Star Wars Saga in an entirely new and unexpected direction.
The new Hoth mission will be available for Xbox 360 owners through Xbox LIVE Marketplace on February 23.

The Hoth level concludes the “Infinities” storyline set up in the previously available Tatooine mission, as the Secret Apprentice is sent to the planet Hoth to crush the Rebellion once and for all. While on Hoth, players face Luke Skywalker himself while visiting iconic locations seen in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force and casts players as Darth Vader’s “Secret Apprentice,” unveiling new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy seen through the eyes of a mysterious new character armed with unprecedented powers. Originally released in September 2008, the game quickly became the fastest-selling Star Wars game ever, and has since sold seven million units worldwide.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II was recently announced and will be released in 2010.

ACII(1)

Posting earlier today on his Twitter page, Ubisoft’s Christophe Grandjean gave a glimpse of the upcoming downloadable content for Assassin’s Creed II with two new screen shots. The second DLC to be released for the game, entitled Bonfire Of The Vanities, will see Ezio and Machiavelli free Florence from "the grip of the mad monk Savonarola" in ten memories as you take care of his minions. Players will have a new move; the spring-jump, which lets Ezio jump twice as high and Florence will also have a new district for players to conquer.

Bonfire Of The Vanities will fill missing sequence 13, just as Battle of Forli filled number 12, and is scheduled to be released on February 18th.

Zaeed Massani doing what he does best. . .destroying things!

Mass Effect 2 is on the shelves and in our Xbox’s, and EA and Bio ware have decided to spice the game up with some free dlc (well, free in most cases!) in the shape of downloadable character Zaeed Massani and bonus mission ‘Normandy Crash Site’.

Add this to the Dragon Armour which came free with Dragon Age: Origins and we’ve already got a few tasty treats from the Mass Effect 2 world to tuck into! These are available via the Cerberus Network which is on the games main menu. So lock and load people (and aliens) and lets see if they are any good. . . .

ME2_CerberusArmor BioWare have just announced that gamers will be able to endure their way onto some new DLC leaving the Miranda armor heading to the new Cerberus Assult armor and M-22a Eviscerator Shotgun. This DLC is free through the Cerberus network within Mass Effect 2.

The content will be available to both the PC and Xbox 360 gamers. (Us 12:00pm Mountain Standard Time) UK estimated at 5AM.

Here’s the details of the items you will receive with the Free DLC.
Cerberus Assault Armor
Cerberus Assault Armor

Cerberus assault armor is designed for shock troops, turn the tide of battle against creatures or forces that would decimate normal soldiers.
Increases heavy weapon ammo capacity by +10%
Increases shields by +10%
Increases health by +10%

M-22a Eviscerator Shotgun

The M-22a Eviscerator Shotgun is a longer-range shotgun with armor-piercing loads. This design also violates several intergalactic weapons treaties, so the M-22a is not distributed to militaries.

Pre-order’s are slowly becoming the most annoying bonus ever to us Journalists, covering all the different ones is rather a big kick in the bollox.

So if you go about Pre-ordering right now from a participating store you’ll be getting:

· Agency Hovercraft
The ultimate in amphibious transport, the Agency Hovercraft is the most flexible form of transport in the game. Equipped with a turret-mounted grenade launcher, you’re guaranteed to blow your opposition out of the water
· Rico’s Signature Gun
Customised by the Agency and adapted for Rico’s shooting style, this deadly accurate and powerful pistol has precision, power and flair
· Bull’s Eye Assault Rifle
More powerful than the standard assault rifle, this lightweight and lethal automatic rifle features increased accuracy and a higher magnification scope
· Chevalier Classic
No agent should be without a hot set of wheels and with an increased top speed and superior handling, you can arrive at your destination in style or make a guaranteed quick getaway
· Chaos Parachute
Featuring a skull motif, make an entrance no one will forget … should you leave anyone alive to remember

I must say that’s a lot of stuff to piss about with! My piss I mean do tactical missions properly when you finally receive the game, makes me feel like not pre-ordering causes you to loose half your game nowadays…

Our good old friend Gordon Van Dyke has just announced the game mode which he was speaking to us about in November, obviously back then he just teased that it was something new.

The multiplayer mode is called ‘Squad Rush’:

Squad Rush Summary

Gamemode: Squad Rush puts a squad of four players versus another squad of four players for a max of eight player matches in this intense one crate/two base infantry only version of the Rush gamemode.

Plus to make matters even more confusing the mode is going to have exclusive access to those who pre-order the game state side…

How To Access "Squad Rush" at Launch

North America: All customers that pre-order from GameStop (local retail store or website) on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will have an Exclusive Access* for 30 days to play the "Squad Rush" gamemode and any friends they bring with them.  This means you can always play with your friends if you have the Exclusive Access* never forcing you to split from them, plus those that have this Exclusive Access* are a bit more popular…  even if only for 30 days. ;-)

Rest of The World: No Exclusive Access, but we will make it available at launch (no extra cost) and you can also invite any of your American buddies to play as well.

and now for the trailer!

Ubisoft decided to let a little Tweet and announced that Assassin’s Creed 2 will receive some nice DLC on January 28th 2010.

Called the Battle of Forli, the add-on will run you 320 MS Points ($3.99/£2.72/€3.72) on Xbox Live and PSN.

In it, players defend the Forli base with Machiavelli and Caterina Sforza against the Orsi brothers through six new playable memories and must protect a Piece of Eden from the Templars. Leonardo’s flying contraption also returns, allowing you to fly across Romagna.

Bonfire of Vanities DLC hits next month, and includes 10 memories, Machiavelli, and takes place in Florence where Ezio must save the city from the monk Savonarola using a new move called the spring-jump.

A very nice price for a very nice piece of DLC, be sure to check it out when it arrives.
