Codemasters’ Guilford studio just announced their new shooter IP, Bodycount.

Set to rip apart the genre Codemasters are to deliver a genre-defining gun play that you wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else! It’s being designed by the Creative Director who brought us ‘Black’ so we expect big explosions and destruction.

We’re all massive FPS fans,” said Stuart Black, Creative Director on Bodycount “and believe that there’s room for a refresh of the shooter experience. If Race Driver: GRID™ was all about the purity of racing, then everything in Bodycount is absolutely centred on the bullet and its impact on the world. Our shredding tech enables us to create a different kind of gameplay, where players and AI can’t hide behind indestructible cover and rely on whack-a-mole mechanics. Here the environment is constantly changing as the game world is shot to hell; it’s going to be a huge amount of fun.”

The game will be the front cover of this month’s OXM – on-sale March 16th.

Something to make you go boom! Mafia II have just slipped out another trailer to keep you happy while you wait for it’s release later this year.

Being a MASSIVE fan of the original just makes me want to play the second game even more. Shame I’m not from a Gangster Italian background.

That’s right, the world famous snowboarder is set to enter the territory of the Skate series and a certain Mr Hawk!

Having just won his second Olympic Gold Medal for half-pipe snowboarding, you could be forgiven for being more than a little surprised that “The Red Tomato” Shaun White is set to be the star of a new skateboarding game.

However, it turns out that Mr White is also an accomplished skateboarder and Ubisoft are currently developing the title for PC, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 which is set for a Q4 release in 2010.

There are no screens or videos as of yet but we will get them to you as soon as they come in.

2010 has already seen a string of great game releases and following in the footsteps of Bioshock 2, Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 2 and Bayonetta comes this batch of potential hits. March will see the release of many titles, with new IPs and sequels aplenty. I pick 5 of the most promising.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 – March 5th (PS3/Xbox 360/PC)

The sequel to EA’s popular first-person shooter Battlefield Bad Company, BBC2 looks to improve on the foundations set by EA DICE in 2008 with improved multiplayer, new vehicles and an updated system providing entirely destructible environments. Argued by EA to be a strong competitor to Infinity Ward’s Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare franchise, Bad Company 2 will see a 13-level single player campaign span numerous continents, featuring environments ranging from mountainous terrain along the Russian border to dense jungles in South America and even a desert.

BBC2

BatmanGOTY

Batman is one cool ass guy, so when given the option to allow his fans to view his amazing skills in 3D he happily returned with a 3D Falcon punch.

Square Enix’ London Studio announced today that the Game of the Year Edition of the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum will include new technology which will offer the player to play in 3D with your standard HDTV. Hell yeah.

Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition adds a new dimension to the multi award-winning gameplay experience, with support for TriOviz 3D on both the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. TriOviz 3D is a patented 3D process which adds depth to the game, visible to players wearing the included 3D glasses. By leveraging the depth-of-field while maintaining the original gameplay and colour integrity, TriOviz 3D creates a far more immersive gaming experience, allowing console players to dive deeper into the gothic world of Arkham Asylum.

As well as also offering the already released challenge maps already on the disc!

Expanding the gameplay of the original boxed edition, the Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition comes with all six previously released Downloadable Content Challenge Maps on disc, giving players further opportunity to hone their combat skills. Gamers can face-off against Arkham Asylum’s toughest inmates in some of the iconic environs from the game such as the infamous Crime Alley and the insane Scarecrow Nightmare.

GOTYBatman (5) GOTYBatman (6) GOTYBatman (7) GOTYBatman (8)

The Game of the Year edition will be available across Europe and other PAL territories from March 26th on Xbox360, PS3 and PC!

reloadedGRID

Playstation 3 owners in PAL territories will be able to get their hands on a ‘Reloaded’ version of GRID on March 12th in the UK.

GRID is being launched on the Playstation brand’s Premium Platinum titles next Friday here in the UK! The package comes with over £10 worth of brand new DLC to keep your engines ticking over (I’m a funny guy I know).

Known as the ‘Prestige Pack’ it introduces:

The legendary Australian Bathurst circuit and 10 of the planet’s most desirable cars, including the Ferrari F430 GTC, Bugatti Veyron and Ferrari F575 GTC. Gamers can also get behind the wheel of the Mercedes SLR McLaren 722, Lotus 2-Eleven, Lamborghini Gallardo GT, Mazda Furai, Jaguar XKR GT3, Honda Integra Type-R (DC5) and Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4.

As well as the Prestige Pack you also get ‘The 8 Ball pack’ which also includes:

The 8 Ball Pack delivers eight superb high performance new cars to drive in the game’s ‘Race Day’ mode and online races. New featured cars include the McLaren F1 GTR, TVR Cerbera Speed 12, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, Honda S2000, Nissan GT-R (S-G2008), VW Nardo, Pontiac Firebird and the Volvo C30. The 8 Ball pack also comes complete with two new multiplayer events to compete in set on existing circuits from across Race Driver: GRID’s three continents and designed to test drivers to their very limit online.

Don’t worry though Xbox fans! A Reloaded edition of Race Driver: GRID for the Xbox 360 will also be available and include a DLC code for the 8 Ball Pack.

Sad but true. Rockstar’s highly anticipated sequel has been pushed back again.

Take-Two delayed the game several weeks already and was supposed to be released on April 17th. It is now even farther away from our consoles and will arrive on May 18th in the US and internationally on May 21st. I can’t say I know why this happened but patience is a virtue right?

So, for now we’ll just wait for our horse riding friend for another 2 months. Watch Clint Eastwood films to past the time.
