Square have today launched a takeover bid for financially struggling Eidos. The takeover bid is part of square plan to crack the Western market with games that do not have the words "Final" and "Fantasy" in them so they are trying to buy up the home of the one the only Lara croft. But Eidos are also in talks with Warner Bros who already holds a stake of 20% in the company.

Square boss Yoichi Wada has already visited Eidos-owned IO Interactive and will be coming back to the UK to "move the deal forward".

As promised by Bethesda Softworks Fallout 3 DLC is very much on its way but more to the point is how quick we are going to receive more content for the game. Bethesda Softworks announced today that the PC version of the game will be the first version to receive any extra content.

“We’ve always seen the original world of Fallout 3 as a foundation for even more content. Some created by us, and a lot more created by users,” said Todd Howard, game director for Fallout 3. “It’s fun to create your own character, but it can be equally fun to create your own adventures. We can’t wait to see what the community does with the G.E.C.K.”

The Garden of Eden Creation Kit will let users create, modify, and edit any data for use with Fallout 3, from building landscapes, towns, and locations to writing dialogue, creating characters, weapons and creatures.

But there’s more after the link

Gearbox’s president, Randy Pitchford, has stated the game has not been "canned." So what in hell is happening well the game has since it has "halted" in production and the reason for this because Gearbox have let go of 15-25 employees. Shacknews reported that this is mainly due to the poor sales of the brother in arms: hell’s highway. Aliens: Colonial marines should be every gamers wet dream 4 player online CO-OP Alien kill fest. It was only going to be a matter of time before this happened. Those of us that have played Fallout 3 know that the game is huge in scale and when I say huge, I mean huge! So thanks to the guys over at Planet Fallout we now have a Google map of the Fallout 3 universe. It’s still incomplete at the moment, but there are a lot of mission, ammo and interesting location pushpins already added so go out there and explore the wasteland of Washington DC .

World-in-Conflict-Soviet-Assault-1595

Massive Entertainment was dumped by Activsion earlier this year and now has found a new home - a home called Ubisoft. The French publisher has purchased the Swedish dev team and the World In Conflict property.

Hopefully we will now see a console port of the now upcoming World in Conflict: Soviet Assault but properly under a new title something like I don’t know… Tom Clancy’s World in Conflict: Soviet Assault or maybe World in Conflict:Soviet Assaultzz. Expect the game to ship early next year. Press release after the link.

THQ’s Red Faction has been delayed and will now be shipping after March 29th - a move that will cost THQ over $125 million. THQ has also posted losses of over $114million and is confirming layoffs.

THQ further explained that its plan involves "the cancellation of several titles that were in development but had not been publicly announced."

Looks like the upcoming global depression is starting to hit the gaming industry. Activision Blizzard have also posted losses of $194 million.

bethesda-bloody-mess-cake

Fallout 3 has completely annihilated the competition in the UK by hitting number 1 in this weeks sales charts. The division in Fallout 3 sales across the platforms is 55% on Xbox 360, 28% on PS3 and 17% on PC. The first weeks sales are over 57% higher than oblivions considering the smaller install base of the Xbox 360 and the PS3 version arriving a little late.

But here is were is gets interesting look at the total PC sales they are at 17% now add both consoles sales there at 83%. Who says PC gaming is on its death bed ???
