Valve have today announced at the X10 event the first new details of the brand new DLC for Left 4 Dead 2. The DLC is going to be called “The Passing” and will have a little meet up of the old charter from the first title as well as some the suspected stuff like new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay.

It also includes new co-operative campaign, associated narrative and new arenas for Survival, Versus and Scavenge modes, as well as a new co-operative challenge mode.

We have got word coming straight from X10 that the pack will be released on the Xbox 360 and PC  ”late March,” we have no idea on price but ,being this is Valve, I suspect the PC version will be free and the 360 version around the 800-1200 point mark.

Bad news if you are still buying your kind of old fashioned print gaming magazines.

What can be said for the old medium it had a good run but in this day and age with websites like our own where you can check out all the latest news and reviews on a daily basis and for FREE! why would you wait for your news on a monthly and PAY! for the luxury as well?  Just look at these number posted by Future publishing, they seem to say it all:

  • Edge: 29,007 (+0.4%)
  • Games Master: 34,313 (-16.2%)
  • Official Xbox 360 Magazine: 60,834 (-4.8%)
  • OXM: 25,874 (-16.6%)
  • OPM: 47,033 (-12.3%)
  • PSM 3: 21,224 (-19%)
  • PC Zone: 11,357 (-40.3%)
  • PC Gamer: 26,487 (-18.8%)
  • Official Nintendo Magazine: 51,271 (-12.8%)
  • N Gamer: 12,499 (-29.8%)

Those numbers are for the whole of 2009 and they don’t look pretty unless you are the still great EDGE magazine who saw a rise in sales of +0.4%.

Future publishing spoke to VG247 and had this to say.

“A lot of media owners do annual ABCs, and some of our competitors do annual ABCs, so it’s not crazily out of context,” he said.

He added: “We chose to do annual because it’s what our nearest rival did, and obviously we didn’t feel there was a lot of point in spending all that money at that point halfway through the year and doing an ABC, but we maintain the fact that you should be open with your numbers. That’s why we’ve ABC’d all our mags, big and small.”

That a loss of over 12 percent decline in revenues to £36 million for the first quarter.

If I had to describe this game I would have to use the word ‘Charming’ or what the hell was that noise? and why do I only have six rounds of ammo left after shooting that mutated dog that was already dead for the past five minutes?

So I have not done this for a while so I thought I would give the old written review side of my brain a little rest form being scared witless from Stalker Call of Pripyat.

So you may or may not of heard of a little know PC game call Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl and how it was and still is by a long shot the most atmospheric games of all time, with one of the best down right weird ass storylines ever to grace the world of videogames.

Well, that was 3 and a bit years ago and now its time for the sequel ‘Call of Pripyat’ and as Stalker is one of my favourite games ever I would try and bring some of its weird ass story to you for as cheap as possible.

Shopto.net – £19.95
Play.com – £17.99

Buy it – just click the links and buy it already! Plus, if you haven’t played the original – it’s up on Steam for only £9.99 so buy that too!

It has been confirmed that the GOTY 2010 (although maybe a little early to call that just yet!) Mass Effect 2 will never be available on the PS3 as Bioware have stated on their own forums.

The Unreal Engine is cross platform, hence the PS3 code. This was brought up back in Mass Effect 1 days as well.

Mass Effect is for the PC and Xbox 360.

LOCKDOWN!

So its over… Well until EA say something else!

We have all heard about rumours about the next Wii being fully HD but when CEO Saturo Iwata says that.

“If asked if making the Wii compatible with high definition – just making it compatible with high resolution – will get players throughout the world to buy it, I would of course say ‘do you think it would sell with just that? It needs something new’,” Iwata told investors

So yes this whole “will the next Wii be the Wii HD” then I think we can say yes it will be.

Wii HD in stores 2012 maybe 2015 or 2020 or when ever the money stops coming in.

So I ask the question why do I sill play games?

One of my first gaming memories is waking up on Christmas day and opening up my brand new Mega Drive Sonic the Hedgehog 2 bundle and it was great and I was about 8 maybe younger. You see games were simpler then and sometimes I think just more FUN in those days however I don’t think I had any favourite games back then, I love Sonic and still kind of do but he’s almost dead to me now.

So what is my favourite game and why?

Okay is is where someone finds me a kills me in my sleep, as my favourite game is still little misunderstood still after all these years, the game being of course Final Fantasy 8 and there’s a little story to why this is my favourite game.

Back in the day when the PS1 was king still my house was burgled and one of the things they took was my old PS1 (RIP) and all my games, it was not until the insuresers paid off I got a new PS1 Slim and one of the games I had received was Final Fantasy 8 and I started a long slippery slope into what would become my gaming habits, it was and I still think is the only Final Fantasy let alone JRPGS I have ever finished and still think about today, and the thing that made it so good was the story and the atmosphere and I fell in love with the characters every single one of them that’s why.

Into the future and beyond

Of course after Final Fantasy 8 there was the PS2 and Xbox and the only title that I can think of that stood out in that GEN was Knights of the old republic and that was that until the Xbox 360 came about and BOOM! right out the gate came Elders Scrolls Oblivion from Bethesda Softworks and then after that Mass Effect from Bioware and Fallout 3 and next week I will be drooling all over Mass Effect 2 oh and not to forget my GOTY last year Dragon age Origins.

Now What is the one thing they all have in common well they all are great character driven RPG’s That’s what I look for in a game and why none RPGs always fail for me they don’t seem to be able to tell a story just look at Modern warfare 2’s story or lack of story in fact if it had a story it didn’t make much sense.

That’s why I still play games for the story.

Has there ever been a good game to movie cross over title? Well maybe we will get our ever first one as long as Uwe Boll does not get his hands on it then everything should be A-Okay.

BioWare’s Casey Hudson, the lead project manger for the most anticipated game so far of 2010 (this being the first month of 2010 and all) has been having a quite chat with MTV Movies Blog stating that.

“Obviously we have a tremendous amount of interest from people in Hollywood to make a major motion picture about ‘Mass Effect,’” Hudson told the MTV Movies Blog. “The most important thing for us is, we don’t just want to see a movie get made. We want to see a great movie get made, if it’s going to get done at all.”

“We’re just looking at our options there, but waiting to make sure we have something really right before we do it,” he told MTV Movies.

So who will get to play the infamous Commander Sheppard my guess will be either Matt Damon, The guy who played Max Payne in the Max Payne movie or Mel Gibson.
