Looks like Sony didn’t listen to the TFMX TIP OF THE WEEK last week. David Reeves has spoken to the the guys over at MCV saying there will be no PS3 price cut until summer 2009.
No, we are not going to go down in price on PS3 – neither are we going to go down in price on PS3 in spring time either. Absolutely not, whatever you might have heard to the contrary. Our strategy is very much value added.
That doesn’t mean we are going to add pieces of software – we might add original ideas to the machine. What we want is to make the machine value for money.
Well let take a look at the competition shall we? First we will start with the Wii – it’s cheap and sells by the bucket load. Okay now lets take a look at the 360. It’s getting cheaper and is really taking off again in Europe. Take note Sony – in these hard times people will not buy over priced goods, believe me. Make sure you make a nice price cut starting Spring 09 and maybe you will be able to plug few holes in the good ship PlayStation.
The former heartland for Sony is turning green – Xbox green that is. The Xbox 360 is again outselling the PS3 in Western Europe and is selling quite well over 1 million units so far this data comes from ChartTrack and GfK they have covered the five largest markets they are Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. So what can Sony do??? Well there is only one thing I can think of that is TFMX TIP OF THE WEEK and here we go Sony its about time for price cut don’t you think lets make the PS3 more accessible.
If you guys remember for last week we posted a story saying that Gears 2 slipped from its top spot and was taken over by the god of Xbox live Halo3 well since then Gears 2 has bit hit again and hot bad its been dropped to fourth place spot. So I have to ask this do you think that the brand new Combustible DLC will save Gears or is this the end of the line for epic this time around have gamers became feed up with the title???Who knows we will have to find out next week won’t we.

Well, the current run of XGM (our Xtreme Gaming Music podcast, if you didn’t know!) will come to an end with our end of year show on Wednesday 31st December. The show will be a celebration of this year of XGM and the great gaming music tracks from games released this year.
