Major Nelson just dropped the bomb for the XBLA release this week; being Darwinia+
if your a fan of the PC phenomenon which is Darwinia, you will therefore be happy that you’ll be seeing all your pixel sized friends jumping around your XBLA marketplace this Wednesday!
The world of the peaceful Darwinians has been decimated by an evil virus and without your help they have no hope of survival. Play the full campaign or take control of a Multiwinian army and challenge your friends to some digital carnage in this IGF award winning action-strategy classic from Introversion Software. It’s a stick man slaughter where only the flattest survive.
Marketplace just pinged us, you can grab yourself a demo of the longest naming title of 2010!
The guys over at Rare headed up the Xbox Live Marketplace lettings us know that you’ll be able to take to the wheel with Banjo in the demo.
Yes, not only are Banjo and Kazooie set to appear in the final Xbox 360 version of the game, as of today you’ll be able to get an early feel for the spin of their wheels by downloading the free demo. It’s the first incidence of playable Banjo and Kazooie since Nuts & Bolts (or Banjo-Tooie on XBLA if you want to be picky) so it’s definitely worth franchise fans seizing this opportunity with both hairy paws.
We got our mucky pours on a preview build of the game a couple of months ago and I must say it is rather enjoyable! It’s a free demo of course, so what are you waiting for?
So you may or may not of heard of a little know PC game call Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl and how it was and still is by a long shot the most atmospheric games of all time, with one of the best down right weird ass storylines ever to grace the world of videogames.
Well, that was 3 and a bit years ago and now its time for the sequel ‘Call of Pripyat’ and as Stalker is one of my favourite games ever I would try and bring some of its weird ass story to you for as cheap as possible.
After a one week hiatus due to some keyboard-based laptop problems; Friday Funnies is here!
This week’s clip is (once again) and old one but has been a personal favourite for a long time and I can’t believe I didn’t upload it sooner! It comes from French prankster Remi Gaillard and is his take on the wonderful world of Mario Kart.
Basically it involves him dressing up as our good friend Mario and driving around public roads in a go-kart, dodging traffic, throwing banana skins in-front of other vehicles and then speeding away from police after they pull him over!
Get out your tissues lads, it’s an emotional moment!
From April 15th 2010 you will no longer be able to get online with your Original Xbox as they are discontinuing the Xbox Live Service. Sad times.
Major Nelson Quotes:
I wanted to let you know that on April 15, 2010 Microsoft will discontinue Xbox LIVE service for original Xbox consoles and games, including Xbox 1 games playable on Xbox 360. Our first step in this process will be to turn off auto-renewals for those members who only use Xbox LIVE on a v1 Xbox. While I can’t comment on the specifics, this change will allow us to continue evolving the LIVE service with new features and experiences that fully harness the power of Xbox 360 and the Xbox LIVE community. We did not make this decision lightly, but after careful consideration and review we realize that this decision will allow us unprecedented flexibility for future features.
Finally all you Fallout 3 nutcases can go a little more nutty!
Today see’s the release of the first teaser trailer into the world of Fallout: New Vegas. It’s got the look of a ’standard’ Fallout style trailer, remember the original Fallout 3 trailer? Well compare that one to the one above!
The premiere of the Dante’s Inferno animated movie tried it’s best to add a bit of hellfire to the cold of London last night and TFMX was there to check it out.
Although the main purpose of the night was for EA and Starz Entertainment to unveil their new animated movie, our main reason for turning up was obviously to get a chance to see how the game itself is looking ahead of it’s release this Friday.
And the verdict was a good one! We saw the game running on the usual promo pods and had a quick play and it looks very polished indeed. Obviously I don’t want to say too much as the TFMX review is currently being worked on but the game was good to look at, with a lot going on on screen at once but it still seemed to be maintaining 60fps very well. Based on the short time that we played for, the game seems to have a God Of War feel to it but with the big combos of something like Devil May Cry. But all will be revealed in good time!
As for the movie, animated features are not typically my kind of thing but I found this to be a gripping and exciting film. However, I would make two recommendations;
1 – Do not see this film if you are at all squeamish as you may be horrified beyond belief by the things you see!
2 – Do not see this film if you don’t like spoilers! The film was great but we couldn’t help coming away feeling like maybe we had seen all the levels and biggest enemies/bosses of the game.
Overall though, it was very enjoyable and we were glad to have had a more in-depth look at the story behind the game, our advice though would be to enjoy the film after the game or as you play through, rather than beforehand or you may have your game spoilt!
As mentioned, TFMX will be battling through the Inferno this week to get the very best review done and posted as soon as possible…
It has been confirmed that the GOTY 2010 (although maybe a little early to call that just yet!) Mass Effect 2 will never be available on the PS3 as Bioware have stated on their own forums.
The Unreal Engine is cross platform, hence the PS3 code. This was brought up back in Mass Effect 1 days as well.
A few months ago THQ asked the fan’s of RFG (Red Faction Guerrilla) what Xbox 360 RFG Avatar themed items they would like to see hit the marketplace. THQ have listened to the community and have designed 3 sets of Avatar outfits.
Along with Mason’s outfit and the Marauder suit,TFMX have a sneak preview at some other items of clothing that will be hitting the Xbox Avatar Marketplace on the 4th of February along with pricing.
Don’t worry Playstation 3 owners you will be able to get your hands on similar items for your Playstation Home characters but at a later date but check back and well keep you posted.
